The rest of the track is filled with some awesome textured and crunchy percussion & synths layered luxuriously. I love the spacey atmosphere the song creates - I even get a little “Close Encounters Of The Third Kind” vibe during the intro. I am crossing my fingers that this doesn’t happen to Flux Pavilion.Īs far as each individual tracks, here’s my thoughts: I know Getter had some massive backlash after that album came out - so much so that he cancelled his tour and essentially was bullied back into making heavy songs again. The best comparison I can give is that ".wav" is to Flux Pavilion as what “Visceral” is to Getter - as in an album filled with a sound different than the dubstep genre they were known for, but includes their most creative & well-made tunes yet. And not to mention that several songs on this album absolutely keep elements of Flux’s core sound. But hopefully they’ll recognize that it’s actually the other way around - this is the most true-to-himself release Flux Pavilion has ever had. I can already see this will be an issue for several of his hardcore fans, as their first thought will be that he’s ‘selling out’ or ‘lost his touch’. And as of recently, he’s even said “I am no longer a dubstep person”. But he’s stated a few times now that he was so tired of making that style, and felt he could do so much more. This was a massive departure for Josh, as fans have come to expect that ‘classic Flux dubstep sound’ that we’ve all heard and loved the past decade. “.wav” is consistent, cohesive, creative, and includes his most well-produced songs yet. But I think I can confidently say this: ".wav" is simply put, Flux Pavilion’s best body of work he’s ever released. I’ve been fortunate enough to have been listening to this album for several months now, so I’ve had time to collect my thoughts. I think there's a lot to dissect about the album, so I think it's worthy of its own post and having a full review. Hey everyone - now that the album is out I wanted to share my thoughts and open a discussion to see what everyone thinks. Want to have an AMA on /r/trap?
